The Congress of Poles in the Czech Republic is a civic association that performs two main tasks: it coordinates the activities of organisations of Czech citizens of Polish nationality and represents the Polish community in relation to the majority society, state organs, local government and the media. The organisation's activities cover the full spectrum of social, cultural and professional life of Poles living in the Czech Republic.
The organisation was established in March 1990 and since its establishment it has been constantly expanding the scope of its activities. The most important activities of the Congress of Poles in the Czech Republic include publishing the newspaper "Głos" (www.glos.live) as well as books of Polish authors writing in the Czech Republic. The Congress of Poles in the Czech Republic runs a Documentation Center, which collects and archives materials on the history and present day of Poles living in the Czech Republic. It also organises cultural events, youth workshops - theater, journalistic, historical, European.
As an organisation, aimed at caring for the development of the interests of the Polish national group in the Czech Republic, it brings together 30 Polish organisations that have made their accession to the Congress and their representatives form the so-called Council of Representatives.
The executive body of the Congress of Poles is the nine-member Council of Poles, whose president is Mariusz Wałach and the vice presidents are Tomasz Pustówka and Józef Szymeczek.
