The main objective of the Russian School of Estonia is monitoring and supporting the rights of Russian minority of Estonia in the area of education – by ensuring the right of Russian minority for education in the mother tongue (Russian), preventing the elimination of Russian schools and Russian minority educational system in Estonia and supporting Russian schools and their development as a part of the educational system in the Republic of Estonia.
The population of Russians in Estonia is estimated at 320,000. Most Russians live in Estonia's capital city Tallinn and the major northeastern cities of Narva and Kohtla-Järve.
