FUEN is able to present positive financial results over 2015

- Communiqués de presse - Funding from the Federal Republic of Germany in 2016 seen as appreciation for FUEN

The Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN) is able to present for the second year in a row positive financial results in 2015. The positive results over 2015 amount to 2,070.38 Euro. This was possible because of sound financial management and especially because of our success in collecting the membership fees and acquiring project grants. FUEN no longer has a negative equity. These results create the basis from where FUEN can acquire further public funding, free-to-spend funding and donations that FUEN can use to represent the interests of the European minorities on the regional, national and in particular on the European level.

“I consider especially the grant from the Federal Republic of Germany of 500,000 Euro for FUEN and 600,000 for the House of Minorities in Flensburg as an appreciation of our European umbrella organisation”, said President Hans Heinrich Hansen. “It enables us to move forward with our projects in 2016 and make a strong contribution for the benefit of the minorities in Europe”, Hansen continues.

“We thank our members and our long-term grant-givers, especially the Land of Schleswig-Holstein, the Sydbank, the Investment Bank Schleswig-Holstein and the FUEN auditors who have helped us in reaching these positive results, for their support over the past three years”, said Susann Schenk, the Secretary General of FUEN. During this period FUEN was able to expand to three locations. After the Office of the House of Minorities was opened, the Europe Office in Brussels and the Coordination Office in Berlin were established in 2015.

Most of the investment volume in 2015 was used for projects. This will also be the case in 2016, e.g. with the EUROPEADA, the European football championship of the autochthonous, national minorities in South Tyrol and with a strong involvement of FUEN within the framework of the German 2016 OSCE Chairmanship.
