Loránt Vincze will continue for another mandate as the President of the Federal Union of European Nationalities. The Assembly of Delegates at the 70 Year Anniversary Congress of FUEN voted with 196 votes for, 5 against his candidacy.
„Three years ago I proposed three keywords: solidarity, priorities and transparency. We have achieved this by turning our attention to smaller minorities, to minorities from outside the EU, by focusing more on minority rights with the Minority SafePack Initiative and by better internal and external communication. For the next mandate I have two keywords: stability and efficiency. FUEN will become a service-based organisation at the service of its members and the minorities of Europe, through the Build Yourself! capacity-building workshops and the Minority Monitor, and we will become efficient by continuing our lobbywork, as we need a breakthrough in European politics” – said Loránt Vincze at the Assembly of Delegates.
The new Presidium of the organisation has also been elected. Daniel Alfreider, Gösta Toft and Halit Habip Oğlu will continue their work as Vice-Presidents alongside YEN President Giuanna Beeli, while Bahne Bahnsen, Vladimir Ham, Angelika Mlinar became new members of the Presidium.
New organisations also joined the FUEN family at the congress: the Conferderation of Slovene Organisations received ordinary membership, the Serbian-Aromanian Association Lunjina and the Democratic Union of Slovaks and Czechs in Romania became associate members, while the Panhellenic Pomak Association was accepted as a supporting member. A membership transfer was also voted: the Community of Germans of Kazakhstan “Wiedergeburt” Public Foundation took over the membership from the Association Wiedergeburt.
The Assembly of Delegates decided that in 2021 the Congress will be held in Tallinn, Estonia. The location of the 2020’s FUEN Congress remains to be decided.
