Political participation
Representation and dialogue on an equal footing
FUEN: advocate of minority interests with representation in Brussels and a Dialogue Forum at the Parliament.
FUEN works for the preservation and promotion of the identity, language, culture, rights and traditions of the European minorities. It stands for the active development of a European civil society in which the autochthonous, national minorities are involved.
For that reason the umbrella organisation of the European minorities represents their interests on the regional, national and in particular on the European level. FUEN is the stakeholder for minority issues at international organisations, in particular at the European Union and the Council of Europe and also at the United Nations and the OSCE. FUEN has participatory status at the Council of Europe and consultative status at the United Nations.
Together with Members of the European Parliament, FUEN established the European Dialogue Forum. Its objective is to establish a dialogue and contact body for the interests of the minorities directly at the European Parliament.
