Denmark will increase the annual grant for the European umbrella organisation of the autochthonous national minorities, after Germany decided to do the same at the end last year. In 2016 a grant of 50,000 Euro is available. “FUEN is very pleased with this grant and we consider this decision as further recognition of our work”, said FUEN Secretary General Susann Schenk.
Today, in the presence of Kim Andersen, the chairman of the Sydslesvigudvalget (South Schleswig Committee), the contracts are being signed. FUEN is being represented by its Vice President Dieter Paul Küssner.
The Sydslesvigudvalget has supported FUEN since 2007 and is a reliable partner. The Committee of the Danish Parliament, the Folketing, has been supporting the project House of Minorities as well for quite some time. This is a joint project of FUEN and its partners SSF and BDN that want to establish a European Centre of Minorities in the town of Flensburg.
“We hope that we are able to get the support from the Sydslesvigudvalget for the further realisation of this ambitious idea”, said Dieter Paul Küssner.
The Office of the House of Minorities is located at Norderstrasse 78 in Flensburg.
